Episode 649: “Would you ever invest in a business that produced a pure commodity?”

Today’s episode was recorded in my hotel during a recent stay in Bangkok. Recently, I made a request on Facebook for people to send in questions for me to answer about your business. I received some good ones and I have recorded some of those for you. For today’s question, Sarah wants to know if I would ever invest in a business that produces a pure commodity.

I talk about the different types of commodity options you could invest in such as wheat and sheep, like my parents did; or other mining products or farm products.

I discuss my personal experience with my parent’s business as farmers and the costs involved in creating the commodities they sell; along with the restrictions on prices that they can get when they go to market.

I state that I would not invest in pure commodity products and explain why in the video.
