Episode 659: “How did you get over your fear of public speaking?”

Today’s episode was recorded on a boat during activity day at the Diamond Mastermind in Costa Rica. Diamond Consultant Gabriel Ekemezie, who lives in Virginia in the USA, wants to know how I got over my fear of public speaking.

I talk about my first time speaking on stage, which was in 2010, when I spoke for about 45 minutes to approximately 200 people and I was completely terrified.

I discuss the importance of practice and preparation so that you are well versed on your topic before you evert get on stage.

I explain that one of the strategies that has always worked for me is creating public accountability so that I have no choice other than to just do it. I share that while speaking in public is much easier for me now than it was the first couple of years, fear is still something I feel before I go out on stage; however, because I understand how critical it is to success of my business, I am able to get out there and do it.
